2019 Murder Mystery
Cirque du Foul Play

Sertoma wishes EVERYONE a very Happy New Year and hopes that each and every day brings you much joy and good health in 2020. AGAIN, all of our endeavors would never be a success without your generosity and inspiration.

Our recent November, and fifth Murder Mystery Production, was a grand and “sold out” success thanks to our local and surrounding patrons. A big thank you to the players of P. Maxwell Productions.

Unfortunately, our annual December Senior’s Holiday Dinner was postponed due to an abundance of SNOW!!! However, it is rescheduled for January 5th – all previous information in the Cherry Chapters is the same except for the date change. You can also read our “December 10th post“ for all the details.

If you haven’t done it yet, subscribe to our blog via email and never miss another one of our blog posts. It’s easy, just put your email address in the box at the top of the right hand column and click subscribe.

Sertoma’s toy and food drive is also considered a great success even though Mother Nature provided us all with MUCH needed rain… Special thanks go to our volunteer firemen, Bobby Toomer, Britt Rivera and Steve Neva from station #140 for their continued support. Thank you to our anonymous sponsors, as well as, Ranchers Market, Lakes and Valleys Art Guild, Leona Valley Hay and Livestock, Tom Joynt, Ray Mullins, Kathy Bramwell, Juanita Kirkpatrick, Michelle McAllister, Susan Heinold, John Grimm, Laurie Millard and Grandson Daniel.

Please keep in mind the Sertoma / “Service to Mankind” organization is always look for new members. You are welcome to join us at one of our 8am breakfast meetings, at Jacks Place, on either the first or third Saturday of each month. We would enjoy meeting you and ask that you check our website: leonavalleysertoma.org to learn what we are all about.

Christmas Dinner Rescheduled for January 2020

Let’s Ring In the New Year with Sertoma’s
Rescheduled Senior Christmas Dinner

Rough weather caused the Leona Valley Sertoma to make the hard decision to cancel the always popular Senior Christmas Dinner, but there is cause to celebrate, as they have rescheduled it for January 5, 2020. It might prove confusing to call it the Senior Christmas Dinner, so the decision was made to rename this event the Senior Holiday Dinner. All seniors 55 and older are invited and the new scheduled time and place are listed below:

When: Sunday, January 5th
Where: Leona Valley Community Bldg. 8367 Elizabeth Lake Road
Time: 1pm to 4pm

Menu:
turkey, ham, meatloaf, green beans, mashed and sweet potatoes, stuffing, salad, cranberries, rolls, desserts, punch and coffee.

As always, attendees can expect to enjoy a delicious meal, at no cost, in the welcoming environs of the Leona Valley community building. For anyone who cannot attend, they can have a meal delivered to enjoy in the comfort of their own home. Attendees will find the food and the fellowship to be well worth the time and effort to be there and the opportunity to spend time with friends and neighbors is always something to look forward to.

Leona Valley Sertoma was founded in December of 1997, as a chapter of Sertoma International. Its membership is made of people who live in the Lakes and Valley communities of Leona Valley, Elizabeth Lake, Lake Hughes, and Green Valley. Through their fundraising events they are able to provide scholarships to deserving students who live in the area and events like the Senior Christmas Dinner, just to name two examples. They meet on the first and third Saturdays of each month at Jack’s Place restaurant, at 8:00am, and invite anyone interested in learning more about Leona Valley Sertoma to join them for breakfast.

If you need a ride or a meal delivered, please call Juanita Kirkpatrick @ 661-270-0588 or Charlene Moore @ 661-816-5177. Please call early.
