When St. Patrick’s Day rolls around, I cannot help but think of John Seymour. He was our St. Patrick’s Day meal John Seymour on the job for St. Patrick's Day dinner.coordinator, chef and mentor for as long as I can remember. He and Lana were a team / the “dynamic duo”.

I wrote the following for John’s memorial and want to share it with you today.

“A Little Bit” of John Seymour

It’s not easy to write “just a little” about a man who has been and will always be a pillar and a gift to our Leona Valley Community. On behalf of Sertoma, John Seymour gained the respect of men, women and children alike. Pertaining to Sertoma, John filled his niche and accomplished many tasks that included organizing the “Welcome to Leona Valley” book, screening scholarship applications for local and Antelope Valley College students, past Sertoma president and up until his passing was our Board Chairman (CEO). His biggest claim to fame was being the “top notch” cook and director for our annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner. I swear he hugged every portion of corned beef and vegetable that went into the boiling pot and reveled in the satisfaction of our guest’s faces when they took their first bite. Oh, YES, John knew it was a job well done and he truly felt the success of it all. You could tell by the twinkle in his blue eyes that matched his blue shirt.
John was a contributor, a patriot and a person who gave everything the best that he had ~ he was a soul who cared ~ he represented “Service to Mankind”.
